Year of the Knots 2017-2018

To celebrate the migration of the of the Red Knot wading bird the Hunter Wetland Centre is holding an exhibition of artworks created by Korean Artists. These Artworks will be on display in the HWC main foyer area with the official opening on Wednesday 13th September between 6 & 7pm.

 Red Knots and Great Knots are small, stocky wading birds. They use large, muddy estuaries around the coast for feeding. The population of both species has been declining at a rate of 2-2.5 % per year in recent decades, primarily as a result of habitat loss at the stopover sites.
