A chance to hear Doug Beckers, Acting Area Manager, National Parks & Wildlife Service give a presentation on
“Estuarine restoration in the Hunter Estuary – environmental outcomes and future steps”.
Doug is a knowledgeable speaker with a long history of conserving & restoring wetlands & wildlife in the Hunter Estuary.
Government agencies are considering acquiring & restoring additional wetlands in preparation for the impact of climate change.
Members are invited to join us on the Cafe Deck for this free event.

HUNTER WETLANDS GOES SOLAR
90 solar panels now cover our Visitors Centre roof, thanks to generous funding from members and supporters of #HunterWetlands and @cleanas.org.au, @NewcastleCC and a federal infrastructure grant provided by @SharonClaydonforNewcastle. That's 23kw of SunTech panels with efficient M215 @Enphase microinverters which will save us thousands of dollars annually in power bills. @HunterWetlandsc @ClimateAction.Newcastle
Open 10am till 2pm for coffee and cake. Open for lunch 11am - 2pm - bookings essential for groups over 10 and for the weekend breakfast with the birds
The cafe is located upstairs in our visitors centre and is a great spot for lunch or coffee overlooking the beautiful ponds and an array of resident birds. Hunter Estuary Wetlands Conservation - Get Involved!
Discover the natural values of the Hunter Estuary Wetlands and see how community volunteers are helping conserve the estuary. The video features Hunter Wetlands Centre, Hunter Region Botanic Gardens, BirdLife Australia, HBOC, Australian Plants Society, KooraGang Landcare, Hunter LLS, NPWS, CVA. It stars local legends Liz and Chris Herbert, Mick Roderick, Boyd Carney, Jo Erskine, Ken Conway, Stacey Maill, Bea Brooks, Peggy Svoboda, Kevin Stokes, Paddy Lightfoot, Kevin Stokes and Louise Duff.
