Wetlands Environmental Education Centre
The School Education Program offered at Hunter Wetlands Centre is underpinned by a valuable partnership with the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET). The Wetlands Environmental Education Centre (formerly Awabakal Field Studies Centre), a NSW DET facility and has been located at Hunter Wetlands Centre since its inception. This partnership has supported the development of a highly regarded and well-used Wetlands Education program accessed by over 200 schools annually.
The school program caters for students from Kindergarten through Year 12 and offers a series of topics to cater for students across a range of age and ability levels and reflect topics in the NSW School Curriculum. Programs are focused on wetland animals; wetland habitats, ecosystem values, functions and management.
