Join us for out June 2023 exhibition featuring the artists Chris Houston and Maureen Piper – ‘Ways, Winds and Water’.

CHRIS HOUSTON
ARTIST STATEMENT
Chris Houston is a self -taught artist and has been painting since his early 20’s. He has worked with many different mediums including water colour, pastels oils even mosaic work.
This exhibition is generally based around nature and water.
Chris being a keen surfer and has always had an affinity with the coast and love of the water.
Chris has used watercolours in this exhibition as it captures the light and the delicate balance between light and shadows.
MAUREEN PIPER
ARTIST STATEMENT
I reside in Lake Macquarie and i have exhibited in numberous exhibitions and galleries. My passion for creating has seen me work in many art forms including painting, limestone sculpture, glass fusion, lead lighting and leather work.
I grew up in the Glenrock Area of Newcastle and along with my creative family, we spent many years surrounded by the natural landscape. As such, much of my work is a reflection of my life spend close to the natural bush & water enviroment.
In recent times I have been concentrating on my fused glass creations and most recently, acrylic and watercolour creations which feature heavily in this exhibition.
Being surrounded by nature and imagined places my art is generally abstract depicting landscapes of captured moments and feelings.
