Canoe Tour – World Environment Day
Hunter Wetlands Centre is celebrating World Environment Day with talks and tours to help visitors appreciate our wonderful wetland environment.
Canoe Tour – 11.00am
Meet at the Visitor Centre ready to complete the paperwork and head off to the canoe shed for an 11.30am launch.
After a safety briefing and paddle instructions, the group will head off to explore Ironbark Creek and the fascinating diversity of wildlife both above and below the water. Learn about the history of the wetlands as revealed along the banks. A 30 to 40 minute paddle brings you to the rainforest landing where you will disembark for a break and to explore the rainforest.
After this break you will paddle back to the canoe shed. Expect to back around 2.00pm.
Please bring lunch/snack and a water bottle. Participants must wear closed shoes and a hat is recommended.
Buoyancy vests will be provided and must be worn.
Two and three seater canoes are available.
Cost: $20.00 per person. Children (must be 4 years+) $10.00

Terms and Conditions
To all visitors: we require you to read and sign a Declaration before participating in our activities and events. The Hunter Wetland Centre provides a unique, accessible and sustainable wetlands experience as a nature reserve for our visitors to enjoy.
Buoyancy vests and closed in shoes must be worn at all times.
Each canoe must have a competent swimmer on board, with the hirer to accept responsibility for any non-swimmer on board.
Participants on guided canoe tours must stay with the group, keeping within sight of other canoes at all times.
Participants must follow instructions of the tour leader at all times.
The tour leader may change the tour or abandon the tour for safety concerns, changes in weather conditions or other reason.
Any equipment lost or damaged must be paid for.
Children 4 to 15 years must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 4 are not permitted.
Children 16 – 17 years may canoe unaccompanied by an adult, if an adult who is present, gives permission.
Canoes have a weight limit of 300 kilos each.
The number of occupants must not exceed the number of allocated seats, ie: 1, 2 or 3
Please wear insect repellant, sunscreen and a hat AND take drinking water.
Please take your mobile phone and call 4951 6466 in case of problems. A plastic snaplock bag will be provided free of charge to protect your device.
Hunter Wetlands Centre does not accept responsibility or liability for personal injury or property damage sustained by canoeists. Hunter Wetlands Centre relies on compliance with all of the above conditions of hire.
LIABILITY WAIVER DECLARATION
By buying my tickets I accept the above conditions concerning participating in a guided canoe tour.
I understand that although all reasonable precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of my child/children/self, I am aware that accidents can be an aspect of the activity/activities, I/we are about to undertake.
I acknowledge the risk of accident as acceptable and do not hold Hunter Wetlands Centre Australia liable for any injuries sustained whilst I/we partake in authorized activities during the visit.
This event will go ahead in wet weather. If rain is forecast please wear wet weather gear. In the case of heavy rain and/or strong winds HWCA will advise via Facebook if the event is cancelled, and a refund will be provided.
Visitors must not attend if they have flu-like symptoms. In this case you will be entitled to a full refund if you advise us of this by email email@example.com by 10.00 am on 5 June 2022.
