Hunter Wetlands Centre provides an idyllic setting for paddlers of all skill levels to explore the intricate waterways that wind through the wetlands. Whether you're a novice eager to try your hand at canoeing for the first time or an experienced paddler seeking a new and captivating destination, Hunter Wetlands Centre has beautiful local scenery to explore.
Experience the magic of wetlands from the water as you explore picturesque Ironbark Creek in your own two or three-person canoe. Paddle your way along the meandering 2km trail to the rainforest shelter for a tranquil picnic lunch.
We have 3 ways you can enjoy exploring our wetlands by water:

• Self-guided Single Kayak Hire: $20 for 2 hours | 2 or 3 Person Canoe Hire: $30 for 2 hours
• Private Guide: enquire at canoes@wetlands.org.au
• Group Tours: from $30 per person
You do not need to book ahead for self-guided hire, unless you have a large group. However, canoeing is subject to weather and other factors so you may wish to call ahead to confirm this activity is available.
Life Jackets: Life jackets are provided with canoe hire. Our smallest life jackets are for persons min 15kg. If bringing your own canoe, life jacket hire is $5.
What to Wear: Enclosed shoes are mandatory. We strongly suggest that you wear sunscreen, hat, light, long sleeve shirts and pants and insect repellant and bring water.
Ages: Suitable for children 4 years and older. Children 12 and under must be in a canoe with an adult. Children 16 years and under must be supervised by a parent.
Launch Times: Canoes are launched between 9.30am and 2.00pm. Canoes must be returned by 3.30pm.
