Art Exhibition: Mollie Lennon "Capturing the Character"

Visitor Centre Hunter Wetlands Centre

The character of birds of the Hunter Valley, captured in photorealistic artworks drawn in coloured pencil by Mollie Lennon

Birds are known to show such personality and character, which is one of the reasons why they are loved by so many people. From Magpies with their melodious song and long term memory, to the energetic little Fairy Wrens, everyone has a story about a bird and their antics.

Mollie is one of the youngest artists to exhibit in our Artspace at the Wetlands Centre. After experimenting with many mediums and subjects, she has came back to drawing animals using coloured pencils and loves the challenge of capturing the details and precision of photorealism. By combining her art with her passion for photography and birdwatching, and using her photographs as reference photos for her drawings, Mollie has developed this fascinating collection of artworks.

"Through my interest as an animal lover and photographer, I have observed many birds with their individual characteristics and behaviours. This is a big part of what attracted me to the subject of birds, and is something I absolutely love to capture in my artworks."

Mollie's exhibition focuses on expressing the nature and personalities of our Australian native birdlife. All her pieces are of birds found in the Hunter Valley and the Hunter Wetlands Centre.

Did you know....All exhibited artworks are for sale with a percentage of the sale price going to the Hunter Wetlands Centre. Its a great way to support local artists and local wildlife.
